Privacy
This page tells what this site learns about its visitors, and how a visitor decides on it. The site is published by the OpenDMI contributors, who are reached at dsedneff@gmail.com for anything about the data of the visitors, and through the issues of the project on GitHub for anything else.
Hosting
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub keeps logs of the requests made to the sites it hosts, including the IP addresses of the visitors, to keep its service secure, as the GitHub General Privacy Statement describes. The OpenDMI contributors have no access to these logs.
Everything the pages are made of, the fonts, the styles and the scripts, is served by the site itself, so opening a page makes no requests to any other site.
Analytics
The site counts its visits with Google Analytics, only if the visitor accepts its cookies: until then, the script of Google Analytics is not loaded at all.
Once accepted, Google Analytics learns the pages visited, the page the visitor has come from, the browser, the device and the approximate location, which it derives from the IP address without storing the address itself. The OpenDMI contributors see these in aggregate, as numbers of visits, and use them to learn which parts of the documentation are read, and nothing else. Google processes the data as the Google Privacy Policy describes.
Google Analytics sets two cookies, which are kept for up to two years:
_ga-
Tells visits of the same browser apart from visits of other ones.
gafollowed by the identifier of the site-
Keeps the state of the current visit.
The data is processed on the basis of the consent of the visitor.
Your choice
The site asks for the choice the first time it is opened, and remembers it in the browser, in its local storage rather than in a cookie, so that it is not asked for again. The choice is sent nowhere.
The choice is changed at any time through the Cookie settings link at the foot of every page. Declining after accepting stops Google Analytics and removes its cookies.
Visitors have the rights the data protection laws give them, such as to access the data held about them and to have it erased, which they exercise by writing to dsedneff@gmail.com, and to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
