dmi_type_id_t dmi_entity_type_id(const dmi_entity_t *entity);

Description

The dmi_entity_type_id function returns the type number the given entity is found at in the table, see dmi_type_id. Types 0 through 127 are defined by the SMBIOS specification, and types 128 through 255 are available for OEM- and system-specific information.

The number tells where the structure is, rather than what it is: vendors give the same OEM type numbers to different structures, and place the structures of others at numbers of their own. What the structure is decoded into is told by its structure type, which dmi_entity_type returns.

Parameters

entity: Entity descriptor.

Return value

Returns the type number of the entity. If entity is nullptr, returns DMI_TYPE_ID_INVALID.
