Description

The dmi_platform_in_generations function checks whether the generation of a platform lies within a range, which a structure specification applies to by its params.generations member:

struct dmi_generations
{
    unsigned minimum;
    unsigned maximum;
};

Both bounds are included in the range, and a zero bound leaves the range unbounded on its side. A range with both bounds zero applies to every platform. A bounded range never applies to a platform whose generation is unknown, since the layouts of different generations are told apart by their ranges only.

Parameters

platform: Platform to check.
generations: Range of generations, nullptr for an unbounded one.

Return value

Returns true if the range is unbounded, or if the generation of the platform is known and lies within the range, and false otherwise.

Errors

None.
