} dmi_acer_device_kind_t;

const char *dmi_acer_device_kind_name(dmi_acer_device_kind_t value);

Description

The dmi_acer_device_kind_t enumeration tells the kind of a device of an Acer laptop, and is the type of the kind field of dmi_acer_device_entry_t.

The kinds are reverse engineered from the PCI and USB IDs of the devices of the data corpus. The ones named are given to the devices of a single class on all the laptops of the corpus. The other kinds found in it are named by their values: kinds 1 to 3 are given to devices of different classes, e.g. 1 to the graphics on one laptop and to the card reader on another, kind 25 to the host bridge on a single laptop, and the other ones to absent devices only. Other values may be found in the data, and are kept as they are rather than taken as invalid ones.

The dmi_acer_device_kind_name function returns the name of a value, as the command line tool shows it.

Values

DMI_ACER_DEVICE_KIND_UNKNOWN_1, DMI_ACER_DEVICE_KIND_UNKNOWN_2, DMI_ACER_DEVICE_KIND_UNKNOWN_3

Kinds of devices of different classes, e.g. graphics, card readers, Ethernet adapters and NVMe drives.

DMI_ACER_DEVICE_KIND_CAMERA

Webcam, a USB one on all the laptops of the corpus.

DMI_ACER_DEVICE_KIND_AUDIO

Audio, the HD Audio controller of the chipset.

DMI_ACER_DEVICE_KIND_WLAN

Wireless network adapter.

DMI_ACER_DEVICE_KIND_BLUETOOTH

Bluetooth adapter, a USB one.

DMI_ACER_DEVICE_KIND_UNKNOWN_25

Kind given to the host bridge of the chipset on a single laptop.

DMI_ACER_DEVICE_KIND_UNKNOWN_13, DMI_ACER_DEVICE_KIND_UNKNOWN_17, DMI_ACER_DEVICE_KIND_UNKNOWN_19, DMI_ACER_DEVICE_KIND_UNKNOWN_21, DMI_ACER_DEVICE_KIND_UNKNOWN_22

Kinds given to absent devices only.

Return value

dmi_acer_device_kind_name returns the name of the value, translated to the language of the current locale when a translation is available, or nullptr if the value has no name. The returned string must not be modified or freed.

Errors

None.

Standards

Not part of the SMBIOS specification. Defined by Acer firmware, and reverse engineered from the data corpus.
