dmi_dell_system_id

Synopsis

#include <opendmi/entity/dell/system-id.h>

typedef struct dmi_dell_system_id {
    const char *identifier;
    const char *system_id;
} dmi_dell_system_id_t;

Description

The dmi_dell_system_id_t structure holds the decoded Dell system ID record (type 255), which holds the system ID of the platform in hexadecimal digits, as the revisions and IDs (type 208) and the OEM strings (type 11, key 1) hold it too, along with an identifier whose meaning is not established. The identifier is replaced when the table is anonymized, see dmi_anonymize, since it may identify the system.

The structure is returned by dmi_entity_info for the structures decoded by dmi_dell_system_id_spec, of type DMI_TYPE(dell_system_id), declared in <opendmi/module/dell.h>, once the Dell extension module (dmi_dell_module) is enabled. It lives as long as the context it has been decoded in.

The layout is reverse engineered from the dumps of the data corpus, since no public source describes the structure, and the members whose meaning is not established are named after their position.

Fields

identifier

Identifier whose meaning is not established, beginning with _SID in most known data, e.g. dellDelldellDELL in the rest. The two bytes past the strings, which most structures carry, are 0 in all known data, and are not decoded.

system_id

System ID, in hexadecimal digits.

Standards

Not part of the SMBIOS specification. Defined by Dell firmware, and reverse engineered from the data corpus.
