Description

The dmi_hpe_backplane_t structure holds the decoded HP/HPE HDD backplane FRU information, which describes a drive backplane: where its FRU is, and the SAS expander and the drive bays it has.

The structure is returned by dmi_entity_info for the structures decoded by dmi_hpe_backplane_spec, of type DMI_TYPE(hpe_backplane), declared in <opendmi/module/hpe.h>, once the HPE extension module (dmi_hpe_module) is enabled, which it is for HP and HPE servers up to Gen10 Plus. It lives as long as the context it has been decoded in.

Fields the data ends before are zero, and the name nullptr.

Fields

i2c_address

I2C address of the FRU of the backplane, shifted left by one bit.

box_number

Box number of the backplane.

nvram_id

NVRAM ID of the backplane.

wwid

WWID of the SAS expander, zero if unknown.

bay_count

Number of the SAS drive bays.

a0_bay_count

Number of the SAS drive bays behind port 0xA0, deprecated from Gen10 Plus onwards.

a2_bay_count

Number of the SAS drive bays behind port 0xA2, deprecated from Gen10 Plus onwards.

name

Name of the backplane, deprecated from Gen10 Plus onwards.

has_legacy_details

Whether a0_bay_count, a2_bay_count and name are shown, which they are not from Gen10 Plus onwards, as told by the generation of the platform.
