Description

The dmi_baseboard_features_t union holds the feature flags of a board, which tell how the board is built into the system and whether it can be taken out. It is the type of the features field of dmi_baseboard_t.

The union is packed into a single byte: the flags can be read either one by one, as bit fields, or all together, as __value.

Fields

__value

All the flags, as the byte the structure carries them in, is_hosting_board being bit 0.

is_hosting_board

Set if the board hosts the other components of the system, the way a motherboard does.

require_daughter_board

Set if the board does not work without at least one daughter board or auxiliary card.

is_removable

Set if the board can be taken out of the chassis and put back without harming the function of the chassis.

is_replaceable

Set if the board can be exchanged for a physically different one, as a repair or as an upgrade. A replaceable board is removable too.

is_hot_swappable

Set if the board can be exchanged for a physically different but equivalent one while it is powered. A hot-swappable board is replaceable and removable too.

__reserved

Reserved bits, zero.
